President-Elect Obama and his father passed through the hallowed halls of Harvard University which was funded in part by the sale of slaves in Antigua. On January 20, 2009, a day after we celebrate Dr. King’s birthday, President Obama will take the oath of office on the steps of the Whitehouse outside the vestiges of the newly named “Emancipation Hall” also built by slaves.
To anyone who doubts black people, people of color are Americans, WE ARE. This country is our birthright too and we want what’s best for it. And our ancestors are dancing in heaven along with President-Elect Obama’s grandmother, mother, father, and grandfather.
Today I am shedding tears of joy for America. And the world.
